A Farm to Call Home

 Earth & Sky Studio

Our dedicated space for movement, Earth & Sky Studio is 400sq ft of reappointed, historic barn-loft space set admist a sea of evergreens in the heart of our working family farm. Our studio offers a rustic retreat, ideal for yoga and movement practice. The intimate space and limited class size naturally provides a more individualized experience.

Earth & Sky Studio is located upstairs on the 2nd floor of the white barn-garage building at the end of our driveway with a ground level entrance on the East. The building is marked, with a sign (pictured). For driving directions please visit our maps & directions page or contact us. First time students are encouraged to read the FAQs section as well.

A joy and challenge of yoga class in our reappointed space is embracing the ability to be adaptable to weather. Our studio space heats and cools with the seasons. Winter classes have proven at times too cold, Spring and Fall are quite nice. Summer classes can be warm or even hot-- As farmers, we have lovingly embraced the spirit of seasonality in our Three Seasons of Yoga Series. Join us on the farm for Spring, Summer and Fall classes.

Our Three Seasons of Yoga Series is shaped by the season and also by our students. Our Three Seasons classes are welcoming for both beginning and more advanced students. These inclusive community classes focuses on "waking up" the entire body-- strengthening core, increasing flexibility and releasing stress while working to cultivate a deeper connection to the breath and self. Our Three Seasons classes seeks to provide students with an opportunity to develop increased body awareness, which in turn promotes better alignment, balance and flow. Elements of Vinyasa Yoga (flowing movements with breath) and Hatha Yoga (holding poses with breath) are dynamically combined in each class.

As a mother of two herself, Jana seeks to share her practice with expecting mothers. Prenatal Yoga class celebrates the amazing transformation of pregnancy in a safe, supportive way using the ancient art of yoga. Women are invited to be empowered through breath, movement and visualization during this special time. No prior yoga experience necessary. This class offers an opportunity to stretch the body, strengthen the core and release tension. An exploration of breath work gives women a powerful tool available for birth and beyond.

Learn one (or both) of these beautiful ancient  arts at your own pace one-on-one or in the company of your small group. Individual sessions can be tailored to specific needs. Bellydance sessions typically include a brief yoga warm up, isolations, basic technique, combos and improvisation. Yoga sessions typically include breathwork, vinyasa & hatha poses and deep relaxation. Bridal or Baby shower? Do something awesome and unique! Book a group session (with an option for henna tattoo) for the lady of honor - contact us for your quote.

Jana Daisy-Ensign, RYT

Jana began her exploration of yoga over fifteen years ago. Developing a more serious, dedicated personal practice during the past decade. Inspired by the power of yoga to relieve stress while strengthening the body and stilling the mind, Jana completed 200-hour (Yoga Alliance Certified) Teacher Training at the Movement Center in NE Portland, Oregon in May 2010. Her life long passion for movement has led to an exploration of martial arts, yoga and dance. In 1995, Jana discovered the beautiful ancient women's art of bellydance. An undying love was ignited. Jana began instructing bellydance classes in Portland in 2002, after seven years of bellydance practice and performance in Northern California. In 2006, as a solo project she opened Ascend Gallery & Studio in N Portland then taking a hiatus from teaching bellydance, she became a new mother in 2008. In 2010, Jana completed yoga teacher training and began instructing yoga. Jana currently offers yoga at Earth & Sky Studio. She is grateful to be ever learning more about the wonders of the the body/mind through the practice of yoga and honored to be able to share this with the community.

Q: What should I know for my first day?

A: As with any new class, it's always a good idea to arrive a few minutes early on your first day. When you arrive in advance you'll have plenty of time to complete a student waiver and advise the instructor about any injuries or special needs you may have. Plan to arrive on an empty or mostly empty stomach, ideally allowing 1 to 2 hours to pass between consuming a meal and coming to class.  Being hydrated and staying hydrated is also recommended.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Plan to wear clothing that is comfortable and allows for unrestricted movement. Since we are in a rustic space and seasonal variances do change the temperature notably it is advised that you dress weather appropriate and utilize layers so you can best regulate your own body temperature.

Q: What should I bring?

A: Mats and other basic props are available. Please bring water and your own mat if you have one. Our apologies, there is not a restroom inside the studio (or the larger building) at this time. Should you need to access a restroom during your visit there is an outdoor porta potty and/or guests are welcome to use the restroom inside our farmhouse, a very short walk from the studio.

We are happy to accept payment via cash, check or credit.
