2018 Season Update

Dear Friends,
We hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and happy. We wanted to send a note to let you know we are not opening for choose and cut Christmas Tree sales this year, due to lack of inventory.

The partnership and support you have shown us over the years has been humbling and heartening. We have loved sharing this tradition with you and your family and know that change can be bittersweet.

We plunged into Christmas Tree farming somewhat haphazardly back in 2009, when we moved to the farm and have been delighted to host eight amazing seasons of choose and cut trees. Our children grew up with this tradition and the memories accumulated are beautiful and bountiful.

Last year, we didn’t feel we had enough sell-able trees to warrant opening for the season and this year feels the same. We do have orders in for new young trees that we will plant in the Spring and some of our previous plantings are growing to hip height now, but it takes years for them to grow to standard height. We’d love to open for a small 'family and friends' tree season in the future when our inventory has grown.

Many of you know we have been working towards biodiversity, and away from mono-culture at Earth & Sky Farm. When we moved to the farm we were surrounded by a sea of trees. We donated some and sold others, making space for a large garden, small orchard, hop trellises, chicken coop and a walking trail (with adult size monkey bars!) around the farm. It is our intent to grow more apples and hops in the years ahead and we have had many thoughts about what other crops/experiences we may be able to share with our community. We’ve talked about offering cut flowers, fresh eggs, fungi, herbs and botanicals, farm stay, farm to table dinner, yoga classes, events and more…

If you have time and interest, we’d love to hear what you would like to see from Earth & Sky Farm. Please click here to complete a quick survey or feel free to send us an email anytime.

Thank you & best wishes for happy holidays from our family to yours!
Warmly,

The Ensigns
